INTRODUCTION

This diploma is designed to explore debt problems. You will explore and build skills and develop techniques for dealing with debt management. You will discover common debts such as gambling, shopping, credit cards, loans and how to devise a plan to repay debts. A great connective course to follow on from introductory counselling.

 

Learning Objectives


  • Students will have an opportunity to learn the different forms of debt management.
  • To review ways of reducing debt and clearing it.
  • Looking at how debt can have n impact on health such as stress.
  • A review of how to be clear of debt and give a personal view.
  • The course encourages the development of debt management in a way of clearing debt looking towards repayments and staying debt free.

This course consists of Ten Units and is a qualification awarded by Oxford Learning College, in its own right; with the quality assurance of a leading awarding body (CIE/ABC) that hallmarks this professional qualification.

 

Assessment Objectives (AO)

 

AO: 1

Students must select and demonstrate clearly relevant knowledge and understanding through the use of evidence, examples and correct language and terminology appropriate to the course of study. This assessment, involves two written assignments: one halfway through the course and following the final unit. Both are assessed and graded by the assigned tutor, according to college procedures.

 

AO: 2

Students must critically evaluate and justify a point of view through the use of evidence and reasoned argument.

 

Quality of Written Communication (QWC)

In addition, OLC require students’ to produce written material in English, candidates must: ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPG) are accurate so that meaning is clear; select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to studying a complex subject matter; organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when appropriate and Harvard referencing of citation and sources. In this Specification, SPG will be assessed in all tutor marked assignments (TMAs)

COURSE CONTENT

The whole level three diploma has TEN (10) specific units of study, which are sub-divided into topic areas these are:

Unit 1: Introduction to the concept of debt and reappraisal of counselling skills

In this unit you will cover the theories and approaches of counselling.You will review theories from Freud, Skinner, Rogers, Ellis and Eagan. You will learn to develop skills in confidentiality and conduct in relation to counselling of children.

 

Unit 2: The Psychodynamic approach relevant to debt counselling

This unit will help you to understand the concepts of psychodynamic approaches to debt and understand the term ‘analysis’. You will explore a client- counsellor situation and discuss findings.

 

Unit 3: The Cognitive Behavioural Approach Relevant to Debt Counselling

During this unit you will review the approach to debt counselling in relation to cognitive techniques. You will have a knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy in relation to counselling and how it can help. You will be confident in using this approach in client- counsellor situation.

 

Unit 4: The Person Centred Approach Relevant to Debt Counselling

This unit will outline the terminology of a person centred approach in relation to debt counselling. You will explore the hierarchy of needs and how this relates to counselling as well as identify which clients this approach would suit best. You will learn a great deal of client- counsellor skills which you will develop throughout the course.

 

Unit 5: Client- Counsellor Relationships in Debt Counselling

In this unit you will review key aims of counselling, boundaries and limitations of counselling and develop confidence in relation to suit your clients. Here you will develop skills and knowledge of relationships and define the meaning, you will be able to identify key areas for concern and review which approaches are most suitable for your clients.

 

Unit 6: What is Debt? (Part 1)

Learners will learn and understand the terminology of “Debt” and how debt is an addictive behaviour. You will learn how debt can be an aid to depression and anxiety as well as outline the interventions within the module. You will gain knowledge in understanding debt as a whole and how this affects day to day life of a person who is in debt.

 

Unit 7: What is Debt? (Part 2)

Through this unit you will review how attachment theory is relevant to debt, understand task setting, negotiation and collaboration. By the end of this unit you will be able to design a programme suitable for a client in relation to debt.

 

Unit 8: Concepts of Change

As you work through this unit you will review the healthy and unhealthy relationship to money, understand key tasks and exercises in relation to debt counselling and describe a variety of cycles which leads debt to spiral. You will be able to understand historical relevance also.

 

Unit 9: Achieving Aims and Goals in Debt

Within this unit you will cover the importance of session homework, describe the rewards system, understand feedback loops and outline the history of debt counselling. You will gain knowledge of potential risks clients may face with suicidal thoughts in relation to their debts.

 

Unit 10: Looking at Specific Debt such as Credit Cards

In this final unit you will review the various terminology of bankruptcy and involuntary agreement. You will gain knowledge of credit card debt and knowledge of the revision of key counselling skills.

 

ASSESSMENT

The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations. Through assessment you will cover certain criteria such as:

  • Theoretical Knowledge/ Understanding
  • Practical Implications
  • Integration of Theory and Practice.

Assignments

The course has TWO Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA); which are graded: Pass or Fail. The grading procedure if Pass or Fail. Your grade will depend upon if the criteria set ha been met and the decision of your tutor. If you Fail an assessment you have the opportunity to amend where your tutor has highlighted and resubmit.

 

Qualification

The whole course MUST be completed and both assignments graded PASS to gain the “Oxford Learning College Level Three Diploma in Aromatherapy”


Course Fee: £850.00 Fees can be paid by instalments.

Entry Requirement/Progression

Entry to this level three course requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have, good English oral, reading and writing skills.

Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained through out contact centre. The course is a rolling programme and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at OLC to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.
